It is shown that ‘Elle’, who had a perfect life in California, has her perfect life disrupted when her parents announce that her family is relocating to Seattle. The move is shown to force the fashion-loving teenager, and it becomes one of the series’ central themes. ‘Elle’ is seen navigating through a new school, varied friendships and a different social landscape.
