Every X-Men Actor Returning In Avengers: Doomsday: Ian McKellen and More

It’s a great time to be a Marvel fan. The studio unleashed the full cast list for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Led by Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, the film will feature the original cast from Fox’s X-Men films that released in the 2000s. This means we’re getting a reunion of Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier and Ian McKellen’s Magneto. The film is also bringing back some fan – favourites that haven’t featured in the MCU for a while.

Here’s every X-Men character set to feature in Avengers: Doomsday:

Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier

Patrick Stewart is reprising his iconic role as Professor X, a character he originated in the 2000s’ X-Men franchise. He was last seen in a cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Ian McKellen as Magneto

Sir Ian McKellen played the villainous Magneto in the original X-Men trilogy. He returned for the role in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Rebecca Romijn as Mystique

Rebecca made for a stunning Mystique in the original X-Men films. She also had a small cameo in X-Men: First Class.

James Marsden as Cyclops

James Marsden played Scott Summers aka Cyclops till X-Men: Days of Future Past. He will return along with the cast of Doomsday.

Kelsey Grammer as Beast

Kelsey played the mutant Beast in X-Men: The Last Stand. He also featured in the end-credits scene in The Marvels, leaving fans excited about his next appearance.

Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler

We didn’t see Cumming in Fox’s Marvel films after he debuted as Nightcrawler in X2: X-Men United. He’s back for Doomsday for the first time since.

Chaning Tatum as Gambit

The only character that wasn’t in the earlier films, Changing Tatum’s Gambit, was introduced in the 2024 hit Deadpool and Wolverine. Fans were delighted with the first-ever live-action iteration of the comic book character.

While the announcement is exciting. There is a possibility that the cast will appear as different variants of their characters or different characters altogether, given the multiversal chaos ensuing in the MCU.

Avengers: Doomsday will release in theatres on May 1, 2026.
