Daredevil Born AgainDaredevil Born concluded its three-season run, the show has been revived by Disney with a fitting title – Daredevil: Born Again. Returning for the New York-set superhero saga is Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil. Joining him is Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin and Jon Bernthal as Fark Castle aka the Punisher, among others. In an exclusive interview with Filmfare, showrunner Dario Scardapane revealed that the Marvel series’ focus will be on Matt’s “interior life.”
Digging deeper into Daredevil’s inner world
Opening up about how Born Again will address Matt’s journey as a human, Scardapane shared, “That’s the challenge. Matt Murdock as a character has always had a rich interior life. And I love kicking and punching, I can write kicking and punching all day long. But if it’s just that, something is missing. The way to bring out the balance of his interior world and the action is always through his relationships. It’s the people he cares about. We love watching those relations.”
“Strangely enough, this time one of those relationships is with the villain. The weird and fun interplay of hate and a little bit of respect for Wilson Fisk makes him a deeper character. It illustrates his dilemma so well,” he added, highlighting the villain’s role.
Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio’s chemistry
Born Again is a reunion for Cox and D’Onofrio. And they got cracking like they never left. Marvelling at their camaraderie, Scardapane said, “It’s palpable. There have been a few times through the course of writing this show when I’ve been in the room with Vincent and Charlie, we have a scene, and they just start talking it over and debating it. And I’m just like ‘Yes, I’m taking that.’ These guys have worked together for so long. They have such a great rapport that you can feed into it and off it as a writer.”
