The recently released series Raakh, which is based on the infamous 1978 Ranga-Billa case, has grabbed attention for its intense narrative and one of its antagonists, Ramandeep Yadav, has shared an exclusive insight into his journey to landing the role which was defined by an interesting professional coincidence.
Before he was cast to play the complex character of Rajjo in Raakh, Ramandeep had previously auditioned for a role in Vikramaditya Motwane’s 2025 prison drama, Black Warrant which starred Zahan Kapoor in the lead role. That project, much like his eventual breakthrough, was also based on the history of the infamous Ranga-Billa case. Despite missing out on that initial opportunity, Ramandeep now reflects on the experience as a vital turning point in his career.

In an exclusive conversation, he admitted that he did not view the missed opportunity as a setback. Talking about the prep for this dark and gritty role, Ramandeep had mentioned, “I wasn’t scared to be a part of this story. I felt a lot of responsibility. Having spent years auditioning and honing my craft, I saw this as a definitive moment to prove my mettle. The success in this series is a proof of the hard work of countless new actors in Mumbai who wait for a single opportunity to showcase their potential.”
The actor’s perspective on the role highlights a deliberate creative choice. Rather than seeking to justify or document the past, he focused on the internal drive of his character. As the industry continues to take note of his performance in the Prosit Roy-directed series, it is clear that for Ramandeep Yadav, the road not taken was simply leading him exactly where he needed to be.

Alongside Ramandeep, Raakh also stars an ensemble cast including Ali Fazal, Sonali Bendre, Aamir Bashir and Akash Makhija in key roles.
