Farhan Akhtar had two major projects lined up, Don 3 and Jee Le Zaraa, but developments on both fronts have been slow. Now, following reports of Ranveer Singh’s exit from Don 3, Farhan is said to be refocusing on Jee Le Zaraa. The film was announced a few years ago with Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt.
As per a report in Pinkvilla, with Don 3 stuck at the casting stage, the filmmaker felt this was the right time to revive discussions on Jee Le Zaraa. The publication quoted a source as saying, “Farhan feels the casting of Don is crucial. He wants to be absolutely sure about who steps into the role, and it is a long process. Jee Le Zaraa has always been special for Farhan. With Don 3 taking time at the casting stage, he felt this was the right moment to revive discussions with the original team and push the film forward.”
The filmmaker is reportedly trying to align the dates of the three leading ladies. The source further continued that if the dates align, the film could finally go on floors in the second half of 2026.
Meanwhile, a couple of months ago, Farhan had opened up about the film in an interview and had shared contradictory views about the cast. He told the YouTube channel Our Stupid Reactions that he was unsure about the cast.
He said, “And there’s so much work that has already been done on it. I finished all the location scouts and have recorded music for the film. All of the stuff is done. So it’s just a matter of time that we need to, we’ll get back to it again. I can’t comment on the cast on that anymore. But will the film happen? The film will happen.”
Jee Le Zaraa was touted to be a female-oriented buddy movie, along the lines of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara or Dil Chahta Hai. It has been written by Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti.
