GV Prakash Kumar’s upcoming fantasy horror film Immortal is finally headed to the big screen. The makers announced on Monday that the film, co-starring Kayadu Lohar, will release in theatres on July 23, giving audiences a date with one of Tamil cinema’s more intriguing genre offerings of the year.
A monster changes everything
Directed by Mariyappan Chinna, the film completed production in May and has since remained under wraps, with the makers revealing only glimpses of what to expect. While the story is being kept tightly guarded, early details point to a supernatural thriller that blends romance with horror.
Immortal reportedly follows GV Prakash’s character, whose life takes a terrifying turn after he attempts to get close to his neighbour, played by Kayadu Lohar. His pursuit of the woman he admires soon leads him into a chilling encounter with a mysterious monster, setting the stage for a suspenseful fantasy tale.
The premise hints at an unusual mix of emotions and scares, making Immortal stand apart from conventional horror dramas. With fantasy horror witnessing renewed popularity among audiences, the film will look to carve its own space with a creature driven narrative.

A strong technical team backs the horror drama
The film also boasts an ensemble supporting cast featuring TM Karthik, Kumar Natarajan, Lollu Sabha Maaran, Aaditya Kathir, Arshu Maharjan, Pema Tsamchoe and Sunita Shrestha in pivotal roles.
On the technical front, composer Sam CS reunites with GV Prakash after their collaborations on Siren and Blackmail. Known for crafting atmospheric scores, Sam CS is expected to play a key role in shaping the film’s eerie mood.
The crew also includes cinematographer Arun Radhakrishnan, editor Rajesh M, production designer Siva Sankar and stunt choreographer R Sakthi Saravanan. Together, they promise a visually immersive experience that balances supernatural horror with fantasy and action.
Immortal is produced by Arunkumar Dhanasekaran under the AK Film Factory banner. The project marks another interesting addition to GV Prakash’s growing filmography as an actor, continuing his exploration of varied genres beyond conventional commercial entertainers.
For Kayadu Lohar, the film adds another notable title to a busy slate of Tamil projects. With its blend of romance, mystery, and monster horror, Immortal has generated curiosity ever since it went on floors.
