Jana Nayagan, Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film with H Vinoth will hit theatres on Pongal 2026, according to an announcement from its makers. According to the announcement, the highly-anticipated political thriller film will release on January 9, 2026. This will be the actor’s 15th Pongal release over the course of his illustrious career.
The excitement is palpable as the makers of Vijay’s upcoming political thriller Jana Nayagan, helmed by director H Vinoth, announced through their social media on March 24, Monday, that the film would be hitting the big screens on January 9, 2026, ahead of the Pongal festival in Tamil Nadu. The film’s release has been highly anticipated by fans as it is said to be the actor’s final film before his entry into politics with plans to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu State Assembly elections.
Jana Nayagan To Clash With Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi?
According to a recent social media announcement by producer Aakash Baskaran of Dawn Pictures, his upcoming production Parasakthi, which stars Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan in the lead, was slated to hit theatres for Pongal too. Directed by Sudha Kongara, who is best known for her 2020 directorial Soorarai Pottru with Suriya, Parasakthi is based on true events, which revolves around the Anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu that happened in 1965.

However, this release update has fans creating an uproar, calling for a change in the release date of the Sivakarthikeyan starrer, as both films have been eagerly awaited, and a Pongal clash seemed unnecessary and would affect each other’s box office success.
