U.S. Senator and longtime Donald Trump ally Lindsey Graham passed away on July 11, 2026, with the cause of his death reported as a ruptured aorta. After his death, attention has shifted to his one true family, i.e., his sister, Darline Graham Nordone, especially as Trump urged South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster to appoint her as interim senator.
While it is not yet confirmed whether Darline will take on her late brother’s role full-time, she is prepared to carry forward Lindsey’s legacy. Amid this, the siblings’ tragic past has resurfaced, along with the extraordinary bond they shared.
Darline Graham said she was “scared to death” after losing both parents
Lindsey Graham and Darline Graham Nordone grew up in Central, South Carolina, where their parents ran the Sanitary Cafe, a combination restaurant, bar and pool hall. Their lives changed forever when their mother died of cancer in 1976. Just 15 months later, their father died of a heart attack, leaving 22-year-old Lindsey and 13-year-old Darline orphaned.
