Is Ranbir Kapoor Joining The Dhoom Franchise? Here Is What We Know

Rumors about the next part of Yash Raj Films’ iconic heist franchise, Dhoom 4, have been circulating for a long time. Fans have been particularly curious about whether Ranbir Kapoor will join the series to take the legacy forward as the main antagonist. Following in the footsteps of John Abraham, Hrithik Roshan, and Aamir Khan, Ranbir has been at the centre of casting speculations for the past two years.

However, recent updates suggest that fans may have to wait a while longer. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the idea of casting Ranbir Kapoor is currently just a concept. The main reason for this is that the script for Dhoom 4 is not yet ready. Despite the immense popularity of the franchise, YRF is reportedly being very selective about the story.

Ranbir Kapoor Dhoom 4

A source shared details on the development process, stating, “Yash Raj doesn’t have a script for Dhoom 4. They have been brainstorming over it for thirteen years, ever since Dhoom 3 was released. Aditya Chopra has rejected over nine drafts of the script. He isn’t venturing into his banner’s most prestigious franchise until absolutely certain about the script… Not after War 2 and Mardaani 3.”

Currently, Ranbir Kapoor is occupied with several projects. He is finishing work on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1. Following these, he is scheduled to begin filming for Animal Park and Ramayana: Part 2.

The actor is also reportedly being cautious about his future collaborations with YRF. The source added, “Right now he’s focussing entirely on Sanjay Bhansali’s Love & War and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. His last experience with Yash Raj, Shamshera, was a colossal disaster. He will only tread with utmost caution on that front.”

There has also been talk about the role of the cop, originally played by Abhishek Bachchan as A.C.P. Jai Dixit. Reports have suggested that Vicky Kaushal might take over the role of the police officer chasing Ranbir in the film. While this potential face-off has generated excitement, nothing can be confirmed until a final script is approved. For now, fans can look forward to seeing Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal together on screen alongside Alia Bhatt in the upcoming film Love & War.
