Samantha Ruth Prabhu has announced a new collaboration with Sony LIV Tamil, teasing a project that could mark the actor’s return to the Tamil entertainment space after a four-year gap. While the streaming platform has chosen to keep the details under wraps, it says the partnership marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter that is “designed to surprise, entertain, and leave audiences wanting more.”
Samantha hints at an exciting new chapter
The announcement comes at a significant point in Samantha’s career. Fresh off the success of Maa Inti Bangaaram, the actor appears to be embracing a new phase, both personally and professionally. Although Sony LIV Tamil has not revealed whether the collaboration is a film, web series or another format altogether, it has promised that audiences can expect something special.
Speaking about the collaboration, Samantha said, “This year has reminded me to embrace change, trust the journey and welcome new beginnings. I’m so happy to be starting this new chapter with Sony LIV Tamil. We’ve been working on something really exciting, and I’m looking forward to sharing it with all of you very soon.”
Sony LIV Tamil also described the partnership as the start of an exciting association with one of Indian cinema’s biggest stars, adding that the project has been crafted to surprise and entertain audiences. An official announcement revealing the nature of the collaboration is expected soon.

The announcement has naturally fuelled speculation about Samantha’s return to Tamil entertainment. The actor was last seen in Tamil in 2022’s Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal. Since then, she has focused primarily on Telugu and Hindi projects while also stepping into production.
The collaboration also follows an important turning point in Samantha’s career. Ahead of Maa Inti Bangaaram, she had revealed that she had seriously considered quitting films before filmmaker Raj Nidimoru, her husband as well as the film’s writer and producer, convinced her to take on the lead role. Samantha had also admitted she was uncertain whether audiences would turn up for the film in theatres. Those fears proved unfounded as the film emerged as a commercial success, with trade reports attributing much of its box office performance to her enduring star power.
Samantha remains one of Tamil cinema’s most celebrated actors, with acclaimed and commercially successful films such as Neethaane En Ponvasantham, Kaththi, Theri, 24, Mersal and Super Deluxe to her credit. For Sony LIV Tamil, bringing an actor of her stature on board fits with the platform’s growing investment in premium regional content.
For now, both Samantha and Sony LIV Tamil are keeping fans guessing. Whether the collaboration turns out to be a streaming original, a feature film or something entirely unexpected, the announcement has already generated considerable curiosity. With the official reveal expected soon, audiences will not have to wait much longer to find out what the duo have been working on.
