In a conversation with PEOPLE, Jamie Lynn Spears and her daughter, Maddie, reflected on one of the darkest chapters of their lives. She recalled how she almost lost her daughter. She revealed that when Maddie was 8 years old, she was riding an ATV. However, things took an unfortunate turn when she made a sharp turn, which left her trapped underwater in the pond on their property in Fluker. She was quoted as saying:
“That was the day I thought I’d lost my daughter. Against all odds, this baby girl fought to be here. We were watching her, and we still don’t quite know whether she was dodging a dog or something else. She went in the water, and my father-in-law, my husband [Jamie Watson], and I ran as fast as we could to jump in to get her out, but she was stuck under the ATV.”
