Karthis Sardar 2 Nears Completion as Team Marks 100 Days of Filming

Director P.S. Mithran’s upcoming spy thriller Sardar 2, led by the ever-versatile Karthi, has hit an exciting production milestone—100 days of shoot completed. With filming now entering its final stretch, the team is inching closer to wrapping up what promises to be one of Tamil cinema’s most dynamic sequels.

Marking the occasion, cinematographer George C. Williams took to Instagram to share a quirky behind-the-scenes image. The photo shows a handheld camera setup mounted on director Mithran himself, with the cheeky caption: “Directoring the director. Handheld filming. 100th day shoot #sardar2.”

In a recent media conversation, Mithran disclosed that the film was almost done, with only a sliver of the shoot left. “Just five to ten percent of the film remains to be shot,” he confirmed, adding that dubbing is also underway to speed up the post-production timeline.

Sardar 2: The Prologue That Sparked A Buzz

Anticipation around Sardar 2 reached new heights with the release of its intense prologue. The teaser featured Karthi executing a slick action sequence, brandishing a Katana—instantly grabbing fans’ attention. Clarifying speculation surrounding the scene’s setting, Mithran explained that while the story kicks off in Cambodia, it eventually transitions to China.

Karthi’s ease with swordplay—refined during his stint in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan—proved advantageous. Mithran noted the actor required only a brief refresher to take on the physically demanding action scenes.

The prologue also revealed a menacing twist: S.J. Suryah stepping in as the central antagonist, Black Dagger, a character expected to raise the stakes considerably.

Technically, Sardar 2 is backed by a robust crew. George C. Williams handles cinematography, Sam C.S. composes the score, Ruben is in charge of editing, and K. Kadhir leads the art direction. Dhilip Subbarayan is orchestrating the action, while the screenplay is credited to M.R. Pon Parthipan, Roju Bipin Ragu, and Geevee.

With just days to go before wrapping, Sardar 2 is shaping up to be more than a sequel—it’s poised to be a global action spectacle.
