After a teaser and character posters, the trailer for Kesari Chapter 2, is finally out. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film features Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in key roles. The clip was unveiled at a grand event in Delhi today, with the film’s cast in attendance alongside Karan Johar who is backing the project.

The trailer of Kesari 2 opens with Akshay Kumar’s C Sankaran Nair questioning General Dyer in court in the aftermath of the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre. When the latter calls the crowd terrorists, Nair talks about the newborns killed in the massacre and asks if their kadas and clenched fists are considered weapons. We then get graphic visuals of the massacre. The trailer doesn’t shy away from depicting the gruesome killings. Nair then asserts, “We are suing the Crown for genocide.”

R Madhavan’s character is introduced as opposition lawyer Neville McKinley. We see him face off against Kumar’s Nair in court. Ananya Panday makes her presence felt as Dilreet Gill, a woman in a male-dominated field. When those around are surprised by a female Indian lawyer, she makes a powerful statement as she says, “Why are you surprised? Doesn’t your England have queens?”
All in all, the trailer promises a riveting courtroom drama on the darkest chapters in Indian history. The production and performances seem impressive from what we’ve seen so far.

Kesari Chapter 2 chronicles the efforts of lawyer and former Indian National Congress President C. Sankaran Nair to uncover the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The film marks the debut of director Karan Singh Tyagi. It also marks Ananya Panday’s first collaboration with Akshay Kumar.
Kesari Chapter 2 will release on April 18, 2025.
