There’s a new trend in town. “2026 is the new 2016” is taking over pop culture, with celebrities jumping on it left, right and centre. Netizens are revisiting the carefree aesthetics of 2016, a time remembered as a peak pop culture era before over-curation and burnout set in.
Celebrities such as Ananaya Panday, Khushi Kapoor and more have participated in it, sharing throwback photos from 2016 featuring simple aesthetics and less curated moments.
Khushi took a trip down memory lane and shared photos with Janhvi Kapoor, her friend Muskan Chanana and others. The carousel featured holiday snaps, mirror selfies and candid moments with close friends. Flannel shirts with racer-back tops, high ponytails and dark lipstick dominated the looks, along with skinny, ripped jeans. Sharing the photos, she wrote, “I was definitely way cooler in 2016.”
However, her sister Janhvi Kapoor seemed unimpressed and reacted with a simple, “Why is everyone doing this?”
