
Kathrine Switzer created records years ago when she entered the Boston Marathon, becoming the first woman to participate in the competition in 1967. Kathrine’s participation led to a chain of events that created headlines. However, it also brought some changes in the later years, including the fact that women were allowed to participate in the competition from 1972. Two years later, Kathrine won the New York City Marathon, finishing first in 1974.
Kathrine Switzer recently revealed in an interview with PEOPLE that she has not stopped running and is covering 30 to 40 miles at the age of 79.
