Mystikal sentenced to 20 years in prison
On June 16, 2026 (ET), Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Lawrence Tyler, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for third-degree rape, a reduced charge to which he pleaded guilty in March 2026, according to ABC affiliate WBRZ and Louisiana First News. The rapper pleaded guilty to the charges in March 2026. However, just a few days before his sentencing, his lawyer filed a motion on June 12, 2026 (ET), asking to withdraw his plea as he “did not have sufficient opportunity to fully consider the consequences” of his plea deal before agreeing to it, according to WBRZ.
