Sanya Malhotra starrer Mrs. has become the talk of the town for its relatable portrayal of a homemaker in a patriarchal household. Despite being made on a small budget, the film’s plot and message resonated across the different parts of the country. The film received mixed responses, but everyone didn’t like how Sanya’s lead role as ‘Richa’ was treated by her husband played by Nishant Dahiya and father-in-law portrayed by Kanwaljit Singh. In a new interview, the latter revealed whether he regrets playing the role.
Kanwaljit Singh admits his sons were shocked to see his role in Mrs.
Kanwaljit Singh played the role of a patriarchal father-in-law, ‘Ashwin Kumar,’ in Mrs., and his character played an important part in the discussion around the film. He recently sat down for an interview with the Hindustan Times, where he asked if he had any regrets playing the negative role. Sharing his family’s reaction, he explained:
“Both my sons have watched it! My wife also has watched it. They absolutely know that this is an antithesis to what I am. Of course, they were a bit shocked. But there’s nothing there that I can be ashamed of. Whatever I take on, I am never ashamed of it, and I never regret it. I loved doing it.”
