Prithviraj Sukumaran Turns Prime Suspect in Intriguing i Nobody Teaser

The teaser for i, Nobody, unveiled earlier this Friday, positions itself as a tightly wound crime drama anchored by Prithviraj Sukumaran in a visibly battered, cornered role. Directed by Nisam Basheer, best known for Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha and Rorschach, the film appears to lean into psychological tension as much as physical conflict.

A Teaser Built on Suspicion and Silence

The teaser offers only fragments, but they are enough to establish tone. Prithviraj’s character is accused of orchestrating a bank heist, and what follows is a series of bruising confrontations that suggest both interrogation and internal collapse. The visuals are stark, with the actor’s bloodied face becoming a recurring image, signalling a narrative where truth and perception may not align easily.

There is a deliberate withholding of context. The teaser does not confirm guilt or innocence, instead choosing to dwell on the aftermath of accusation. This ambiguity works in its favour, creating intrigue without overselling the plot. Nisam Basheer, whose previous work has explored moral grey zones, seems to be extending that interest here into a more overtly thriller-driven space.

A Notable Reunion and Expansive Ensemble

One of the key talking points around i, Nobody is the reunion of Prithviraj with Parvathy Thiruvothu. The two last shared screen space in Koode, directed by Anjali Menon. Their pairing, known for its emotional depth and understated chemistry, adds an additional layer of interest to the project, especially within a genre that typically prioritises plot over interpersonal nuance.

The supporting cast is extensive and includes Hakkim Shahjahan and Shankar Ramakrishnan in key roles. The ensemble further features a mix of seasoned performers and familiar faces such as Ashokan, Vijayaraghavan, Madhupal, Nakshathra, Aira, Nishanth Sagar, and Nandhu, among many others. This broad casting suggests a narrative with multiple perspectives, possibly unfolding across intersecting character arcs.

Backing the film are producers Supriya Menon, Mukesh R Mehta, and CV Sarathi. On the technical front, the film brings together a team that has consistently delivered strong work in Malayalam cinema. Music is composed by Jakes Bejoy, whose recent scores have leaned heavily into atmospheric sound design. Cinematography is handled by Dinesh Purushothaman, while editing is by Ramees Mb.

The action department also signals ambition, with choreographers Yannick Ben, Kalai Kingson, and Amith Jolly Bastin contributing to what appears to be a physically demanding narrative space. The teaser hints at grounded, close-quarters action rather than stylised spectacle, aligning with the film’s overall tone.

A July Release with Growing Curiosity

i, Nobody is currently slated for a theatrical release in July, and the early promotional material suggests a film that is less concerned with conventional heroism and more invested in character vulnerability. Prithviraj’s role, at least from the teaser, appears stripped of the invincibility often associated with leading men, placing him instead in a position of scrutiny and survival.

For Nisam Basheer, this marks a significant step in scale, moving from contained storytelling to a more expansive thriller format. Whether the film sustains the tension implied in its teaser remains to be seen, but it has already positioned itself as one of the more intriguing Malayalam releases on the horizon.
