Inside Rahul Arunoday Banerjee’s last heartfelt letter to his 12-year-old, Sohoj
Years ago, in 2021, on the occasion of Father’s Day, Bengali actor, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee wrote a heartfelt letter to his son, Sohoj, who is now 12 years old. In the first part of the letter, Rahul mentioned his and his estranged wife, Priyanka Sarkar’s struggles in the Bengali entertainment industry. Addressing his son, Sohoj, Rahul wrote, “If you ever work in our industry, then you will know that you are privileged.” For the unversed, Priyanka and Rahul welcomed their first child, a son named Sohoj, on December 9, 2013. First part of Rahul’s letter to Sohoj can be read as:
“Your mother and I have been friends since your mother was 14 and I was 21. Since we were younger, we were shot last, leaving the others behind. And we two used to sit in the corner of the set and chat. Your mother was the daughter of an accounts teacher in Behala and I was the son of a very ordinary government employee. Neither of us knew anything about this industry. If you ever work in our industry, then you will know that you are privileged, a privilege that a 14-year-old girl and a 21-year-old boy have earned by being humiliated day after day—incidentally, by your parents.”
