Tollywood media reports are buzzing with a probable shift in the upcoming post-summer release calendar. Both Yash-starrer Toxic and Ram Charan-starrer Peddi are currently linked to the same release window. Toxic is officially scheduled for a June 4 release, but that status appears tentative. The lack of fresh promotional material in mid-April has raised concerns among fans. By now, there would typically be a renewed focus on publicity if there were no plans for postponement. The film was previously moved from March 19, and a second delay now seems likely.

Peddi eyeing Toxic slot?
According to the latest reports, if the makers of Toxic vacate the June 4 slot, Ram Charan’s Peddi is expected to step in. The rustic, sports-based action drama has faced its own share of production delays and was recently pushed from its March and April release plans. Industry insiders believe the makers are waiting for a clear window to avoid competition. A solo pan-India release on June 4 would allow Peddi to maximize its box office potential without a clash..

Both films are massive projects with high stakes for the Indian film industry. Toxic is reportedly mounted on a staggering budget, exceeding that of KGF 2. It is being positioned as a global action thriller, shot in both Kannada and English. KVN Productions, which is facing a setback over Jana Nayagan, has backed Toxic on a monumental scale. Meanwhile, Peddi is being made on a budget of approximately Rs 300 crore. It features a rural 1980s backdrop, high-end production values, and music by AR Rahman. The sheer financial scale of both films ensures that their producers will prioritize a solo theatrical window. A release on April 30 would have given Tollywood much-needed respite from a dull phase post-Sankranthi. Distributors and exhibitors have been waiting for a major crowd-puller after Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu.
