Ram Gopal Varma Weighs in on Dhurandhar Vs Toxic Calls It a Collision Between Truth and Styling

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 and Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups are all set to clash at the box office this March. Both these films have considerable hype and are two of the most anticipated releases this year. Dhurandhar has already crossed several milestones at the box office, and fans are eagerly waiting for the sequel. On the other hand, Yash’s fans have also created quite the buzz for Toxic. Amid this, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma opined that this is going to be the ultimate clash between ultra-realistic cinema and ultra-unrealistic cinema.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), RGV wrote, “#Dhuroxic on March 19th will be the ultimate clash between ultra realistic cinema and ultra unrealistic cinema
D is built on cause , leading to effect and consequence. It reveals that violence has moral, psychological, and political foundations. The Characters act because they must, not because they will look cool. Believes the audience is intelligent whereas In T Style precedes logic. T assumes the audience wants stimulation, not emotional engagement like D”

He went on to explain that Dhurandhar respects grim reality, whereas Toxic sells fantasy dressed as seriousness.
Talking about the difference in the protagonists in both the films, RGV continued, “D respects grim reality. T sells fantasy dressed as seriousness.
D unsettles
T tries to impress
D’s Protagonist is human
He can fail, misjudge, bleed, age
His power is limited and contextual
T’s Protagonist is born bulletproof”

The filmmaker said that it won’t just be a clash at the box office but a collision between truth and styling.

“#Dhuroxic won’t be just another clash
it’ll be a collision between truth and styling. And possibly something bigger. #Dhuroxic could mark the beginning of the end of hero worship ushered in by the pan India biggies from the south.”

Aditya Dhar has directed Dhurandhar, whereas Geetu Mohandas have helmed Toxic. Both these films will be released in theatres on March 19.
