Rishab Shetty Applauds Ken Karunasâ Youth Calls It A âBeautiful Tribute To Parentsâ

Kannada star Rishab Shetty has extended glowing praise for the Tamil coming-of-age drama Youth, led by Ken Karunas. The film, which delves into themes of love, friendship and emotional growth, seems to have struck a deeply personal chord with the actor.

Taking to social media, Rishab shared how the film left him smiling from start to finish, calling it a rare cinematic experience in recent times. He described Youth as more than just a nostalgic look at adolescence, noting its emotional resonance as a tribute to parents and the bonds that shape young lives.

His words have added to the growing curiosity around the film, especially given his own reputation for storytelling rooted in strong emotions and cultural nuance. Coming from a filmmaker who understands the pulse of rooted narratives, the appreciation carries weight within the industry.

Ken Karunas earns praise for a triple role

Rishab was particularly impressed with Ken Karunas, who not only plays the lead but also serves as the film’s writer and director. The young talent, son of actor Karunas, appears to be carving a distinct identity for himself with this ambitious project.

Highlighting Ken’s multi-faceted contribution, Rishab commended the depth and sensitivity with which the story has been handled. He noted how each character feels organic and lived-in, a quality that often defines memorable coming-of-age films.

The film also features a strong supporting cast, including acclaimed Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu, whose performance has been singled out for special mention. Alongside him, Devadarshini and the ensemble of young actors bring energy and relatability to the narrative, particularly in scenes revolving around friendship and youthful camaraderie.

Rishab’s detailed appreciation extended beyond performances. He acknowledged the technical team, including music composer GV Prakash Kumar, cinematographer Viki, editor Nash, and producers KCR and Sulochana Kumar, crediting them for supporting the film’s vision.

“After a long time, I found myself smiling through an entire film. Youth is filled with love, friendship, and deep emotions—a beautiful tribute to all parents. Ken Karunas’ ability to write, direct, and act with such nuanced depth is truly commendable. Every character comes to life so naturally on screen. Suraj Venjaramoodu sir, Deva Darshini ma’am, and the entire friend’s gang are an absolute joy to watch. Special mention to music director GV Prakash, DOP Viki, editor Nash, and producers KCR and Sulochana Kumar for having the faith to bring this vision to life. Youth, a film by Ken Karunas. Brother, you will be an asset to cinema,” Rishab wrote.

A coming-of-age story with emotional resonance

At its heart, Youth explores the complexities of growing up, weaving together elements of first love, friendship and self-discovery. The film appears to lean into emotional authenticity, focusing on the small, defining moments that shape one’s transition from adolescence to adulthood.

What sets it apart, going by early reactions, is its emphasis on parental relationships. Rather than treating them as background figures, Youth reportedly places parents at the emotional core, examining how their presence influences the choices and identities of young people.

The film’s tone, balancing light-hearted moments with introspective beats, seems to have contributed to its appeal. Rishab’s remark about smiling throughout the film hints at a narrative that remains engaging while still addressing deeper emotional themes.

For Ken Karunas, Youth could mark a significant milestone, positioning him as a promising new voice capable of handling multiple responsibilities with confidence. With endorsements like Rishab Shetty’s, the film is likely to draw increased attention from audiences eager for sincere, character-driven storytelling.
