Twenty-five years after the release of the cult classic Dil Chahta Hai, which redefined modern Hindi cinema, Saif Ali Khan and Farhan Akhtar are set to reportedly collaborate once again. The duo, who famously worked together on Farhan’s 2001 directorial debut, are joining forces for a new project that promises to bring a fresh perspective to the screen.
According to recent reports by Variety India, Saif is set to headline a brand-new, untitled moral thriller. The project is being produced under the banner of Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. While the production house has yet to make an official announcement about the film, the project is reportedly in its development phase, with the screenplay progressing steadily. The team is aiming to begin filming before the end of the year.

While specific plot details are being kept under wraps by the creative team, initial reports suggest that the film will move away from conventional suspense dramas. Instead, it is expected to explore complex ethical and moral dilemmas. The story is set to explore various social issues through an intense lens, blending psychological tension with emotional drama. The story is reportedly designed to place its central character in situations that challenge personal beliefs, ethics, and difficult life choices.
About the casting, Saif is expected to play the lead role. Reports indicate that the makers are currently in the process of searching for a lead actress to join the cast. Additionally, while the project is moving forward with pre-production and script development, a director for the film has not yet been finalised.

Saif was most recently seen playing a sharp-witted police officer in the Netflix film Kartavya. His upcoming lineup also includes Haiwaan, directed by veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, which will feature him alongside Akshay Kumar. This new collaboration reunites Saif and Akshay following Tashan which released in 2008.
