Salman Khans Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peaces Release Delayed for This Reason?

Salman Khan is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. Earlier titled the Battle of Galwan, the film is expected to explore the emotional and patriotic aspects of the Galwan Valley conflict while highlighting the larger hope for peace in times of war.

However, fans might have to wait a while for its release. As per fresh reports, the release has been delayed since the makers have not submitted it to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) yet.

Mid-Day quoted a source as saying, “At this stage, after making the necessary changes, the team is trying to understand what would be the next steps to ensure its smooth release. No department, whether the Ministry of Defence, the Army, or the CBFC, has seen the film yet.”

Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace is produced by Salma Khan under the banner of Salman Khan Films, with Apoorva Lakhia at the helm as director. The film also stars Chitrangda Singh in a pivotal role.

The movie was previously named Battle of Galwan. However, director Apoorva Lakhia told HT City that changing the title to Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace helped understand the heart of the film. “At its heart, the film is about humanity, empathy, and the silent battles our soldiers fight,” he added.

However, as per Bollywood Hungama, the film was initially inspired by a real-life event. Following a request from the Ministry of Defence, the makers reportedly changed the plot and added a fictional spin. A source told the publication that Lakhia reshot nearly 40% of the film as he added some romantic scenes and backstory. The makers had submitted the new cut, hoping that they would get the NOC, but the Ministry still had apprehensions. The source also stated that the makers were requested not to mention China in the film.

Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace will be released this year.
