Nandamuri Balakrishna’s upcoming film, tentatively titled NBK111, continues to grow in scale. According to reports, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has joined the cast of the Gopichand Malineni directorial. The actor is currently shooting key portions in Hyderabad, a city where he has worked frequently in recent years. His role is expected to feature high-impact action sequences and add to the film’s scale.
While the makers have not revealed the nature of his character, industry buzz suggests Sanjay Dutt will be seen in a negative role. Director Gopichand Malineni has previously worked with actors from other industries, including Sunny Deol, and is known for presenting them in a massy avatar for Telugu audiences. Fans are hoping Dutt will get a substantial and memorable role in NBK111. Also, fans of Balakrishna were disappointed after his Akhanda 2 turned out to be a damp squib. They are hoping that he would strike the box office with vengeance with his next film.
Sanjay Dutt’s successful run in South Indian cinema
Sanjay Dutt has made a strong impact in South Indian cinema over the past few years. In KGF: Chapter 2, he played the menacing Adheera, whose confrontations with Yash’s Rocky became one of the film’s major highlights. More recently, he portrayed Pekamedala Kanakaraju in Prabhas’ The Raja Saab, bringing gravitas to the fantasy horror entertainer.
Another powerful antagonist for Balakrishna
In Daaku Maharaaj, Balakrishna faced Bobby Deol as the antagonist. With NBK111, he is once again set to lock horns with a Bollywood star. The film stars Kajal Aggarwal as the female lead and is being mounted on a grand scale with high production values.
Balakrishna also has NBK112 with director Koratala Siva in the pipeline. The recently launched project is expected to be a big-budget commercial entertainer targeting a mid-2027 theatrical release. The actor is also set to collaborate with director Vivek Athreya on another upcoming project.
