Satluj is inspired by a real-life incident
The recently released movie, Satluj is set in 1995 in Punjab. The story follows ‘Jaswant Singh’ (played by Diljit Dosanjh), who is a bank employee. He is living a normal life, until someone close to him mysteriously disappears. His search leads ‘Jaswant’ towards a disturbing incident. He realises that thousands of illegal killings have happened.
After uncovering this, ‘Jaswant’ plans to risk everything to expose the truth. The movie is inspired by the real-life work of Jaswant Singh Khalra. He was a human rights activist, whose investigation became one of the most horrific chapters of Punjab. It is worth mentioning that the spine-chilling movie is directed by Honey Trehan.
