For the unversed, Serena made a comeback after four years. Well, a while ago, the icon revealed that she is required to withdraw from Wimbledon doubles after suffering a terrible knee injury. Along with it, she also shared an update on her health, which has left her fans worried.
Serena Williams withdraws from Wimbledon doubles
A while ago, tennis icon, Serena Willaims took to her Instagram handle to share a heartbreaking update about her comeback. She shared a series of photos and videos and revealed that she is withdrawing from Wimbledon doubles, moments before her next match. She explained that her knee injury is preventing her to play. She also expressed gratitude towards the entire team, who gave her the opportunity to make a comeback. A part of her note can be read as:
“I’m heartbroken to have to withdraw from doubles. Coming back to compete again has been a gift, and the opportunity to play alongside @venuswilliams once more meant the world to me. I did everything I could to be ready, but unfortunately my knee just isn’t ready to compete. I’m especially grateful to tournament director, Jamie Baker, and the entire tournament team for giving me every opportunity to play here. Thank you to the fans for your incredible support and for making this comeback so meaningful…All I can say is stay tuned to a city near you.”
