Vijay breaks silence over Theris remake Atlee responds

Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi starrer Baby John released in the theatres today. The film is co-written by Atlee and Kalees and directed by the latter. It is a remake of Thalapathy Vijay’s film Theri which was also directed by Atlee. Now, Vijay has reacted to the remake of his 2016 hit film and sent his best wishes to the team.

He wrote on social media ahead of the release of the film, “Best wishes to @Atlee_dir @Varun_dvn @KeerthyOfficial @priyaatlee #WamiqaGabbi @MusicThaman @kalees_dir @AntonyLRuben and the entire #BabyJohn team for the release tomorrow. Wishing you all a blockbuster success.”

Atlee responded to this and wrote, “Love you na Thank you soooo much It means a lot to us.” The leads of the film Varun and Keerthy also responded to this. While Varun wrote, “Thank you thalapathy Vijay sir. We will always remain babies near you âÃ‚Â�¤ï¸Ã‚Â�#babyjohn”, Keerthy thanked the actor for his wishes. In Baby John, Varun Dhawan plays the role of a cop who has to pay a heavy price for his integrity.

Filmfare’s review of the film reads, “Baby John differs from Theri in the treatment. And the deviation is not for the better. The original didn’t have an ear pounding background score, for instance. The BGM is so loud in some places it gets on your nerves. And for an action film, two hours and 40 minutes is too big a runtime. It could easily have been trimmed by half-an-hour. The editing is choppy and inconsistent. The music by Thaman doesn’t work. The songs don’t feel like they were originally created in Hindi. Even though the lyrics are in Hindi, you feel like you’re hearing a South language. And in 2024, no one has the patience to sit through lip synched song and dance versions. They could easily have been chopped, as none of the songs, except the baby shower one, add to the narrative.”
