A young deck cadet, Aditya Sharma from Himachal Pradesh, was killed in an attack by US military forces on the commercial oil tanker MT Settebello in the Gulf of Oman. He was one of the sailors who were initially reported missing after the attack. However, later it was confirmed that Aditya Sharma, along with engine fitter Shivanand Churasiya and chief engineer Patnala Suresh, were found dead.
Aditya Sharma’s father claimed that his son was being exploited by the seniors on the ship
After the reports claimed that three Indians sailors went missing, Aditya Sharma’s father took to his X account and appealed to the Indian Government to help find him. He shared that the shipping company messaged him. He added that his son had reported exploitation by a senior at the ship and wanted to quit it in April 2026. His post on X can be read as:
“I am father of one of the three crew missing. Aditya Sharma is my son. Please help to locate and find him. Below shipping company message to me. My son has reported exploitation by senior at ship and want to quit this ship in April. We have all conservation in records.”
