Netflix is back with yet another true-crime documentary, dredging up a sensational case. The OTT site’s latest offering in the genre, which has generated immense online buzz, is the three-part drama series, The Witness and the companion documentary, The Murder of Rachel Nickell. The story follows the tragic July 15, 1992, murder of 23-year-old, Rachel Nickell on Wimbledon Common in South West London. The chilling crime remains as one of the most infamous and controversial cases in British criminal history due to a honey trap police operation, the arrest of an innocent man and several other issues.
Rachel was a part-time model, a wife, and a mom of a toddler when she died. She was sexually assaulted and stabbed 49 times in broad daylight, right in front of the eyes of her two-year-old son. Alex was left with a lifelong trauma as he grew up in the presence of his father, André Hanscombe. The scene of his mother’s assault and murder remained fresh in his mind even after three decades had passed. However, he avoided interviews and didn’t want to talk about the horrendous incident until for the Netflix documentary. Amid that, Alex and his father’s whereabouts have been revealed.
Where is Alex Hanscombe and his father, 34 years after Rachel Nickell’s death?
