An ex-CIA officer has been arrested by FBI officers after USD 40 million worth of gold bars were found at his home in Virginia. If the reports are to be believed, he showed ‘work-related expenses’ and got his hands on the gold to get them, and never returned.
The ex-CIA officer stole the gold from the Federal government, which was found stashed in his home along with millions of US currency and luxury watches from Rolex. The officer who is involved in this has been identified as David Rush, a CIA official with top secret-level clearance. David was charged with criminal theft and was arrested last week, and if the reports are to be believed, he is now waiting for a detention hearing. So, amid this, let’s have a look at who he is.
Who is David Rush? Reportedly lied about his background for decades before being charged with criminal theft
According to AP, David Rush’s role was not known, nor was the fact of when he left the agency. On the other hand, the NY Times revealed that he held a senior position at the CIA until very recently. According to the court filings, David Rush was a former executive service-level employee at a United States government agency. A report by the HT revealed that he applied to work with the US Government three times, and it was in 2009 that he got selected. He also reportedly lied about his educational background, as reported.
