Rod Martin’s Super Bowl XV heroics and Oakland Raiders legacy
Rod Martin built his name as a fearless linebacker for the then-Oakland Raiders. He was picked in the 12th round of the 1977 NFL Draft after playing college football at University of Southern California. Many did not expect him to become a star, but he proved them wrong over time. He played all 12 seasons of his NFL career with the Raiders. In that time, he played 165 games and started 147 of them. Rob became one of the most trusted players in the defence. His work earned him two Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro honors, including a first-team selection in 1984. But the moment that people still talk about came in Super Bowl XV.
