Aditya Dhar’s Dhoom Dhaam, starring Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi, was released to a good response last month. The Rishab Seth directorial follows the story of a mismatched couple who are chased by goons on their wedding night due to a case of mistaken identity. However, the film was initially supposed to feature Katrina Kaif and Fawad Khan in the lead and its title was Raat Baaki instead of Dhoom Dhaam.
Dhar was supposed to make his directorial debut with Raat Baaki in 2016, and it had the same plot as Dhoom Dhaam. However, he could not go forward with it due to growing political tensions between India and Pakistan. There were reports of Fawad being replaced but the film got delayed back then. Talking about the same, Aditya said in an interview, “That’s true. It’s the same story. But we tweaked it a little bit. We made it contemporary and a story of today’s times.”
Back in 2019, Dhar had spoken about the film and said, “It was a romcom laced with action and while my office was trying to figure out whom to cast in place of Fawad, I was fascinated by the surgical strikes that took place 11 days later on September 29 and started my research on October 1.”
Instead of Raat Baaki, Aditya went on to make his debut with Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike and this film turned out to be an important career milestone for both the actor and the director.
The director further revealed why he thanked Sima Taparia in his film. Responding to this, he shared, “We shot a scene with her, which was supposed to be at the beginning of the film, but we had to edit the scene out. However, she did become a part of the film in a way. She was featured in the promotional campaign as she’s associated with Netflix.”
