Zarina Wahab explains why she is choosing Telugu films calls them more family-oriented

Veteran actor Zarina Wahab has opened up about a decisive phase in her career, revealing why she is increasingly choosing to work in Telugu films. Speaking at the song launch of Nache Nache from Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab, Zarina shared her happiness over the response she has received and the sense of belonging she feels in the Telugu film industry.
Reflecting on her long career, Zarina said that while she has worked in many films over the years, The Raja Saab has brought her exceptional publicity and recognition. Expressing heartfelt gratitude, she thanked producer Vishwa Prasad, distributor Anil Thadani and actor Boman Irani, while also showering affection on Prabhas, calling him “sabse raja” and a true sweetheart. She added that working with the cast and team gave her the chance to connect with warm, respectful people, which made the experience even more special. She also thanked Maruthi, who is the director of this film.

Zarina also spoke candidly about a question she is was asked in Mumbai. She was asked why she prefers doing South films at this stage of her career. Answering it clearly, she said that Hindi films today lack the sense of family that once defined them. “In Hindi films, there is no family,” she remarked, adding that Telugu cinema still prioritises family-oriented storytelling. According to her, Telugu films celebrate these relationships and togetherness, which audiences genuinely enjoy watching.

This connection is what has motivated Zarina Wahab to actively take up projects in the Telugu industry. She revealed that she is currently doing three to four Telugu films and expressed deep gratitude for the love and respect she has received there. At the same time, she acknowledged the Hindi film industry for shaping her career, saying she remains thankful to both worlds.
Her words echo the sentiment shared by Prabhas himself at The Raja Saab pre-release event in Hyderabad, where he called Zarina Wahab one of the true “heroes” of the film. Prabhas praised her presence and also credited producer Vishwa Prasad for backing the film’s scale and vision fearlessly over its three-year journey.
Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab features Prabhas alongside Sanjay Dutt, who plays the antagonist. The leading ladies of the film are Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal and Riddhi Kumar. With its Sankranti 2026 release, the film aims to deliver a full-fledged family entertainer.
