As per the singer, the album is his most culturally inspired project to date. While he has consistently drawn from South Asian vocal and rhythmic traditions throughout his music, those influences are brought into sharper focus here. The pop-forward album expands on the sound fans first heard on his record-breaking debut studio album, Mind of Mine.
The album is co-produced by Zayn, alongside Malay, who he previously worked with on Mind of Mine and Icarus Falls. The snow leopard, a profound symbol in South Asia, on the album art showcases how deeply his heritage has inspired the record.
The 15-track album is preceded by lead single Die For Me and Sideways, an atmospheric pop R&B record driven by Zayn’s signature falsetto. Opening track Nusrat, an ode to Pakistani musician Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, serves as the creative anchor of Konnakol, setting the vocal experimentation and sonic direction that shaped the album.
The latest single Side Effects leans into sleek, radio-ready pop R&B, pairing warm synths with his signature falsetto as he explores the complexities of love and devotion. Fatal introduces a more dance-driven energy, designed for the live stage with buoyant basslines and an infectious pulse, while Breathe offers a softer and atmospheric moment of release.
In support of the release, Zayn will make his first late-night TV interview alongside a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on April 21, 2026followed by an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on April 23, 2026.
Zayn will kick off his largest solo tour to date, The KONNAKOL Tour, on May 12, 2026 in Manchester, United Kingdom. The tour will span major cities across the globe, including London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, São Paulo, and more before concluding on Friday, November 20 in Miami, FL at Kaseya Centre. Earlier this year, Zayn wrapped his first-ever Las Vegas residency, where he debuted and teased unreleased material from Konnakol.
On the professional front apart from the new album, he most recently teamed up with BLACKPINK’s Jisoo on Eyes Closed, which earned a 2026 iHeartRadio Music Award nomination for Favourite K-Pop Collaboration and made an impressive global impact. It debuted at 10 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart (43.9M streams first week), 72 on the US Hot 100, 21 on Spotify Global and topping iTunes in over 40 countries.
