Pakistani actor Danish Taimoor is at the center of controversy after his remarks on polygamy. A couple of days ago, he said in front of his wife Ayeza Khan that he has the right to marry four times as it is permitted by Allah and no one can take this right away from him. He had said, “If God has permitted something, then He has permitted it. That I’m not doing it, is a different matter. I say this in front of her (Ayeza) and today I’m saying it in front of you all, I am allowed to marry four times. But it’s because of my love and respect for her, that for now, I want to spend my life with her.” As soon as the comment went viral, he received a lot of backlash on social media. Moreover, the use of the word for now attracted more criticism and netizens called him out for humiliating his wife.
Now, the Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi actor has broken his silence over the remarks. He issued a public apology through a video on social media.
The actor said, “I know you guys are a little upset with me. Whatever happened that day, some people think that I disrespected my wife, but that was not what happened and that was never my intention. I love her a lot and perhaps my choice of words was poor. I want to add that I use the word ‘filhal’ (for now) often because I believe that we will not always be alive. We can only talk about the present and I especially make it a point to do that. I suppose I shouldn’t have used that word in that moment — whatever it was, a slip of the tongue.”
He continued, “Still, if people felt hurt by what I said then I’d like to apologise from the bottom of my heart. Believe me, I do not wish to upset you, I am here to entertain you. I have dedicated my life to your entertainment.”
The actor concluded by saying that there is no issue between Ayeza and him and they are happy in their married lives. Danish Taimoor and Ayeza Khan tied the knot in 2014 after dating for some time. They are parents to two children, Hoorian and Rayan.
