Ghajini 2, a sequel to Aamir Khan’s 2008 hit film Ghajini is reportedly in the works. Khan and Suriya will be shooting for the Hindi and Tamil versions of the film simultaneously. In a recent interview, director AR Murugadoss shared an update on the film and said that everyone would come together for a discussion once they got the time.
He told a leading portal, “We have some ideas. Right now, we all are busy with our respective projects. Once we get time, we will sit and discuss.”
The director met Aamir Khan on the sets of Sitaare Zameen Par and had a brief discussion. Recalling the same, he said, “When I came to Mumbai first, I met him before I started the shoot of Sikandar. I met him on the sets of Sitaare Zameen Par and we discussed something. After that, we often spoke over the call.”
Meanwhile, earlier it was reported that Aamir Khan is in conversation with producers Allu Aravind and Madhu Mantena for Ghajini’s sequel. The Hindi version features Aamir while the Tamil version is led by Suriya. Both versions will go into production simultaneously. Suriya, in conversation with a leading news portal, confirmed that he will return to lead Ghajini 2. He also shared that he is on board with Allu Aravind’s idea for the upcoming film.
Ghajini Re-release
While fans are waiting for an update on Ghajini 2, they can catch the original film in theatres. It was re-released along with other Aamir Khan films to mark the superstar’s 60th birthday and his contribution to Indian cinema. Besides Khan, the film also starred Asin, Jiah Khan, Pradeep Rawat and Riyaz Khan in key roles.
Talking about the re-release trends, Murugadoss said, “Now the re-release trend has started. So, all the old hit films are released on the hero’s birthday or on holidays.”
