âœHow Can You Fight Your Own Family?â- Aamir Khan On Rift With Brother Faissal Khan

Of late, there have been many stories linking to the somewhat complex relationship between Aamir Khan and his brother Faissal Khan. While the two shared the screen decades ago in the action-drama Mela (2000), their real-life bond has been marked with public allegations and legal disputes. Now, in a candid conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Aamir Khan has finally addressed the long-standing friction, offering a glimpse into how he processes the personal turmoil.

The rift gained attention last year when Faissal Khan made several startling claims against his family. Faissal alleged that he was kept under house arrest and accused Aamir of using his influence in the industry to sabotage his career. When asked about these accusations of illegal confinement and career sabotage, Aamir said, “Kya karein? (What to do?) That is my destiny.” Reflecting on the futility of family disputes, he added, “You can fight the world, but how can you fight your own family?”

The conversation also touched upon the 2000 film Mela, which was intended to be a major milestone for both brothers but underperformed at the box office. Aamir admitted that the film’s failure left a lasting impact on both of them.

Aamir shared, “I was obviously disappointed by its failure to achieve its potential. Beyond that, I think it’s tough to answer your question. First of all, let me tell you, every film I do means a lot to me. The failure of Mela definitely made a difference to me. It was hard on Faissal, but it was hard on me as well. I’m not comfortable with the idea of any of my films not realising their full potential. The entire team had worked very hard. We were all disappointed.”

The Khan family has previously maintained a united front regarding Faissal’s health and well-being. In a past collective statement, the family, including Aamir’s mother Zeenat Tahir Husain and sister Nikhat Hegde mentioned that all decisions regarding Faissal were made with love, compassion, and a desire to support his emotional and psychological wellbeing.

While Faissal has remained vocal about his grievances, Aamir’s recent comments suggest a desire to maintain dignity amidst the dispute, choosing to view the situation through the lens of fate rather than confrontation.
