According to sources, the actress Preity Zinta is said to return to acting with Lahore 1947. In the film, the actress will be seen next to Sunny Deol. There are also possible rumours going on about a possible change in the title for Sunny Deol’s upcoming film, ‘Lahore 1947’, which have been circulating online, but producer Aamir Khan has now addressed the assumption. The actor-producer, Aamir Khan, has confirmed that the film will continue to retain its original title and that no decision has been made to rename it.
Lahore 1947 is an upcoming Hindi-language period drama film directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, and has also been backed by Aamir Khan Productions. Set against the backdrop of the partition of India in 1947, the film stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh.
According to recent reports, it is said that the makers were considering renaming the film Batwara 1947 in order to avoid potential controversy. However, Aamir denied those claims when senior journalist Subhash K Jha asked him about the speculation to which he said, “Where did you hear that? No, the title of our film has not changed. As of now, it is Lahore 1947, and that’s how I would like it to be”.
The film was initially planned to be released on 23 January 2025, but was delayed due to post-production work. Lahore 1947 is now scheduled for a theatrical release on August 13, 2026, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend.
