Bhavitha Mandavaâs Inside Moment Post at The Met Gala Goes Viral

Indian model Bhavitha Mandava recently made her debut at the Met Gala 2026. The model was seen wearing simple jeans and a top. This choice of clothing definitely did not make her fans happy and has since then sparked conversations around what she wore. However, before jumping into those discussions, it is quite important to know who she is. Following that, Bhavitha Mandava is an architect from Hyderabad who is presently studying in New York. 

Mandava rose to fame after opening a Chanel show in December 2025, becoming the first Indian model to do so. Having moved to New York City in 2024, she was discovered by a modelling agent at a subway station. Soon after, she walked for Bottega Veneta under designer Matthieu Blazy. When Blazy later joined Chanel, he brought Mandava on board to open the show, in jeans and a beige sweater, a recreation of the outfit she was wearing the day she was scouted. Since then, the 26-year-old’s career has soared: she has appeared on magazine covers, been mentioned in a speech by Emmanuel Macron, and featured in major campaign shoots. Recently, Bhavitha Mandava took to her social media which captured an inside moment at the Met gala. In the picture, many celebrities including Rosé, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, Margot Robbie, Ayo Edebiri, Gracie Abrams, Rachel Sennott and a few others from Met Gala 2026, could be seen. Soon after this picture had surfaced on her official Instagram account, fans started to react to it almost immediately. 

The caption of the post read, “Felt cute, might delete later’, to which the model received mixed responses from her fans. One of them commented, “No wayyyy you’re deleting this!!! Pure girlie-girl energy : ) ending her comment with a pink heart emoji. While most of the others commented under the post as ‘Iconic’, there were a few responses from her fans expressing their disappointment with her outfit. One of them wrote,”They did you dirty but the selfie is iconic!!!” while another person commented, “Fun but you shouldn’t have accepted this outfit. This seems like a lousy idea to remind people you’re that subway Chanel show model incase they can’t recognise you. Offensive. You deserve much better.” 

According to reports, fans all over the internet has expressed their disappointment over the choice of the model’s look at the Met Gala. As, Met Gala is known for being the world’s most extravagant red carpets. Moreover, showing up in jeans and top was least expected especially from the industry’s newest breakout, during her first debut at the Met Gala. 

Additionally, her outfit did not align with the dress code this year, ‘fashion is art’ which added to the disappointment. “Now why would they do Bhavitha like this?” an X user wrote in a post.
