Ram Charan’s sports action drama Peddi has registered a modest start on Netflix following its streaming debut on July 9. Despite its big-budget scale and the presence of stars like Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, the film recorded 1.9 million views in its first four days on the platform. It currently ranks fifth on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Films (Non-English) chart.
Several recent Indian releases have performed better on the streaming platform. Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna’s courtroom drama Ikka recorded 4.4 million views within three days of release. Tamil action thriller Blast, starring Arjun Sarja and Preity Mukundan, also opened with 4.4 million views during its debut weekend, extending its successful theatrical run. Family entertainer Daadi Ki Shaadi has also outperformed Peddi on the platform, reflecting strong audience interest in lighter, content-driven films.

The performance highlights a growing trend on OTT platforms, where engaging stories often attract more viewers than star-driven spectacles. Family dramas, thrillers and high-concept films have increasingly found wider acceptance among streaming audiences.
One factor that may have affected Peddi’s digital performance is the absence of its Hindi-dubbed version on Netflix. Without a Hindi release, the film’s reach across the wider pan-India streaming audience remains limited.
The Hindi version of Peddi is scheduled to begin streaming around July 30, 2026. Due to mandatory theatrical window rules, Peddi’s Hindi debut comes about eight weeks after the film’s theatrical release, following the early July digital premiere of the original South Indian language (Telugu, Tam,il, Kannada and Malayalam) versions.

Peddi, however, enjoyed a successful theatrical run in the Telugu states, emerging as one of the region’s major box-office performers. While it resonated strongly with Telugu audiences, the film struggled to replicate that success in its Hindi, Tamil and Kannada releases, reflecting the challenges pan-Indian releases often face across different markets.
