Malayalam actor-director Basil Joseph has sparked fresh speculation about a potential collaboration with Allu Arjun after sharing a cryptic Instagram picture. In the photo, Basil is seen wearing a cap with the word “ICON” printed on it, while the background music features the popular Arya 2 track “Ringa Ringa,” composed by Devi Sri Prasad.
The post quickly caught the attention of fans, who interpreted it as a hint toward a possible project with the Pushpa star. However, neither Basil Joseph nor Allu Arjun has officially confirmed the collaboration.
Reports linking the two first surfaced in June 2025, when they were said to have met in Hyderabad to discuss a new idea. Basil, who won widespread acclaim for directing the Malayalam superhero film Minnal Murali, has since been viewed as an unconventional but intriguing choice for an Allu Arjun film. Industry speculation has also suggested that the project could have a superhero or fantasy-action backdrop, although there has been no official announcement.
The development comes at a time when Allu Arjun’s upcoming lineup is drawing considerable attention. The actor is currently working with Tamil director Atlee on the big-budget sci-fi entertainer Raaka, which also stars Deepika Padukone. Allu Arjun is presently shooting for Raaka. The high-budget production, which blends the actor’s intense screen presence with Atlee’s signature scale and storytelling, has generated massive buzz. The makers are eyeing for a release in the second half of 2027. The actor has also lined up AA23 with Lokesh Kanagaraj, with Anirudh Ravichander composing the music.
Interestingly, updates on Pushpa 3 have been limited in recent months, while discussions around Allu Arjun’s reported collaboration with Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga have also gone quiet. If the Basil Joseph project materialises, it would further underline the actor’s growing preference for collaborations beyond the Telugu film industry as he expands his pan-Indian slate.
