7 Bollywood Films Releasing In Theatres In September 2026: Daayra Haiwaan To Mirzapur: The Movie

September is shaping up to be an exciting month for movie lovers, with a packed lineup of Bollywood films set to hit theatres.

 

From the much-awaited return of the popular Mirzapur characters in Mirzapur: The Movie to Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s action-packed Haiwaan, audiences have plenty of options to choose from. The month will also see Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Daayra arriving alongside brother-in-law Kunal Kemmu’s Vibe, making for an interesting box-office clash.

 

With a mix of action, drama, thrillers and highly anticipated franchises, September promises an entertaining theatrical run. Here’s a look at all the Bollywood films you can watch in theatres this month.

 

Mirzapur: The Movie

Release date: September 4

Cast: Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Divyenndu and Jitendra Kumar

Director: Gurmmeet Singh

 

The action-crime thriller centres on the fierce battle for Mirzapur’s throne, with Kaleen Bhaiya fighting to protect his empire. Ruling through fear, the king runs his powerful criminal empire alongside his son Munna, but their dominance is challenged when old enemies resurface and new rivals emerge.

Jeevan Bheema Yojana

Release date: September 4

Cast: Arshad Warsi, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Vijay Raaz

Director: Abhishek Dogra

 

The Hindi crime comedy revolves around a couple struggling with debt who come up with an insurance scam after meeting Bheema, a man who looks exactly like the husband, Jeevan. But their plan takes an unexpected turn when a goon gets involved and they discover that Bheema is connected to a smuggling operation.

Haiwaan

Release date: September 11

Cast: Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Boman Irani, Saiyami Kher, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Sharib Hashmi

Director: Priyadarshan

 

After 18 years, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are all set to share the big screen once again, this time in a dark and gripping thriller helmed by Priyadarshan. The film brings the two actors together in dramatically different roles, setting the stage for an intense face-off.

 

Akshay takes on a menacing avatar, while Saif plays a visually impaired man who finds himself at the centre of the unfolding mystery. With suspense, unexpected twists and a compelling conflict driving the story, the film promises to offer a different side of both actors.

Daayra

Release date: September 18

Cast: Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj Sukumaran

Director: Meghna Gulzar

 

Daayra, directed by Meghna Gulzar is inspired by true events, the crime thriller explores themes of crime, justice and punishment.

 

Kareena plays DCP Ajooni Kohli IPS, while Prithviraj portrays DCP Raman Kumar IPS. The story delves into the aftermath of a disturbing crime and examines how it affects individuals and society. With two police officers leading the investigation, Daayra is expected to explore questions of accountability, justice and the challenges of doing what is right.

Vibe

Release date: September 18

Cast: Preity Zinta, Kunal Kemmu, Sparsh Shrivastava, Dinesh Lal Yadav and Yashpal Sharma.

Director: Kunal Kemmu

 

The same day, Kunal Kemmu’s Vibe is also set to arrive in theatres, creating an interesting box-office clash with his sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan. Written and directed by Kemmu, the action-comedy stars him alongside Preity Zinta, with debutant Vanshika Dhir also joining the cast.

 

The story follows two friends whose ordinary day takes an unexpected turn when they accidentally get caught up in a terrorist plot. What starts as an unfortunate situation soon turns into a high-stakes mission to protect the country.

 

Preity plays a pivotal character who appears to be leading the mission and guides the two unlikely heroes through their dangerous journey.

Love Lottery

Release date: September 18

Cast: Akshay Oberoi, Agni Agyari, Santosh Shukla, Heli Daruwala and more.

Director: Arvind Pandey

 

The film combines a gripping murder mystery with a look at male rights and the loopholes within the legal system. Akshay Oberoi plays Kartik, a man who finds himself caught in a false domestic violence case after seeking a divorce from his wife.

 

His situation takes a darker turn when his estranged wife is found murdered, making Kartik the prime suspect. As he struggles to prove that he is innocent, the story highlights the challenges he faces while navigating the legal system. Akshay Oberoi also delivers an intense 6½-minute emotional monologue, which is expected to be one of the film’s key moments.

The Vvaan: Force of the Forest

Cast: Sidharth Malhotra, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sunil Grover, Maniesh Paul, Shweta Tiwari, and Anup Soni.

Director: Arunabh Kumar and Deepak Kumar Mishra

 

The final week of September will bring The Vvaan, a supernatural thriller rooted in mythology and Indian folklore. The film follows a rational, city-bred man who returns to his ancestral village, only to find himself drawn towards a forbidden forest that locals have long warned people to stay away from.

 

Ignoring their warnings, his decision sets off a chain of events that awakens an ancient divine force and puts the entire village at risk. As the story unfolds, The Vvaan explores the clash between modern-day logic and centuries-old beliefs, blending mystery, mythology and supernatural elements.

 

The film promises to take audiences into a world where ancient faith and the unknown collide.
