Legendary pop star Madonna is back in the news, and once again it’s due to her striking appearance. She recently debuted a new look inspired by British contemporary artist Dame Tracey Emin’s iconic work, which was a homage to Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. The 68-year-old singer generated immense buzz with her Frida Kahlo-inspired look. The online chatter around it focused particularly on her smooth skin, devoid of wrinkles or fine lines, which fuelled plastic surgery rumors.
Madonna’s Frida Kahlo-inspired look came amid her plastic surgery rumors
Madonna is a self-proclaimed fan of Frida Kahlo, and a big one at that. She reportedly owns five paintings of the legendary painter as part of her personal collection. Madonna often pays homage to Frida by dressing up like her. Recently, on September 5, 2026, the singer shared a portrait of one of her recent Frida-inspired looks, and the internet can’t stop talking about it. Madonna posed in front of the photo of the person who inspired her look.
It featured the iconic portrait titled Being Frida, London (2000), taken by the world-renowned photographer Mary McCartney. In the photograph, British contemporary artist Dame Tracey Emin embodied Mexican painter Frida Kahlo while reclining in a bed. Madonna recreated the look by wearing giant red flowers woven through her hair, some junk jewellery and a white top. However, she missed Frida’s signature deeply pronounced monobrow and flushed cheeks.
