Mumbai’s popular Gaiety Galaxy theatre has stopped screening films since Monday, September 7. A senior manager associated with the theatre, speaking anonymously, said the decision was taken due to some internal licensing issues. The management is currently working to sort out the matter.
Meanwhile, there have also been reports that a ruckus took place during a screening of Hanuman Ansh. This led to rumours that the incident was behind the theatre’s closure. However, the management has said that the suspension is related to licensing issues.
Gaiety Galaxy has been a favourite destination for Bollywood stars over the years. Here’s a look at 10 actors who have visited Gaiety Galaxy over the years.
Among the stars with a long-standing association with Gaiety Galaxy is Shah Rukh Khan. The superstar has visited the theatre on several occasions, including during the promotions and success celebrations of Happy New Year in 2014. Khan had also visited the theatre during the promotional campaign for Chennai Express.
Salman Khan, too, has been part of one of Gaiety Galaxy’s most talked-about promotional events. In June 2014, the actor launched the trailer of Kick at the theatre alongside Jacqueline Fernandez and director Sajid Nadiadwala.
Ranveer Singh’s visit to Gaiety Galaxy around the release of Simmba also became a memorable moment. The actor visited the theatre to watch the film with the audience and experience their reactions first-hand.
