Superstar Aamir Khan will no longer headline the biopic on BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover. Reports suggest that he has run into creative differences with the makers and has chosen to withdraw from the project. This comes as a surprise, given how much curiosity the film had already generated. The news has left many wondering who could possibly replace an actor of his stature in a role this demanding.
Too important an exit
The biopic on Grover has been one of Bollywood’s most talked-about upcoming projects, largely because of its unusual subject. Grover shot to fame through BharatPe and later became a household name after his stint on Shark Tank India. A film built around him always carried risk, but Aamir’s involvement gave it instant credibility. Losing him now is a genuine setback. Frankly, this exit is too significant to brush aside. Aamir has a habit of elevating whatever he touches. The makers reportedly remain committed to the film and are searching for another actor.
Research-oriented approach
Aamir has always been remarkably selective with biopics and stories grounded in real-life figures. Unlike actors who take on biopics regularly, Aamir’s process is defined by restraint. He often spends years researching, learning regional dialects, and reshaping his body for a single role. In Dangal, the actor played Mahavir Singh Phogat, an amateur wrestler who trained his daughters, Geeta and Babita, to become elite international champions despite rigid societal norms. Aamir took on the role of the 19th-century soldier who sparked the 1857 Indian Rebellion in Mangal Pandey.
Aamir recently got married for the third time in a quiet ceremony in Mumbai. On screen, his last big theatrical outing was Sitaare Zameen Par, a sports drama that did well with audiences and critics alike.
