In a massive development for fans of political crime dramas, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is all set to return to his most celebrated cinematic universe. Nine years after the last part of the franchise, Varma is gearing up to reboot the series with Sarkar 4. The film marks a special reunion as it brings back the iconic onscreen father-son duo, Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, the project is moving at a fast pace and is scheduled to go on floors very soon. The shoot for Sarkar 4 is officially set to begin on April 25. This film is being seen as a major comeback for Ram Gopal Varma and a revival of the cult franchise that released two decades ago.

Unlike a traditional sequel, this new chapter will take a different creative direction. A source revealed, “The first schedule to begin with the Bachchan father-son duo together right from the start. RGV was keen on beginning the film, which Sarkar 4 will be, a reboot and not a continuation of the first three parts.”
The Sarkar series has long been regarded as some of Varma’s most powerful work. The journey began in 2005, introducing Amitabh Bachchan as Subhash Nagre, a leader navigating the complex political ecosystem of Mumbai. The success of the first film led to Sarkar Raj, which saw Abhishek Bachchan take on a more prominent role. While the third part was released nearly a decade ago, many wondered if the story had reached its conclusion.
Now, with the reboot, Varma aims to revisit this gritty world through a fresh narrative. The first schedule is expected to be a crucial one. According to the source, “Sarkar 4 will go on floors from April 25 with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan expected to shoot several key dramatic sequences together.”
