Birthday Special: When Jaya Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan teared up at the Filmfare Awards

Jaya Bachchan is celebrating her 77th birthday today. The actress has given many hits and maintained her position as one of the most sought-after stars in Bollywood. She began her career with a supporting role in Satyajit Ray’s Mahanagar. She made her debut in Bollywood with Guddi.

While she won around eight Filmfare awards, the actress was also awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award. While receiving the same, she thanked her family members, including Amitabh Bachchan. “Forget it, I’m not retiring. I’ve just begun again.” She went on to thank director Satyajit Ray for being “a great influence” to her. She also acknowledged director Hrishikesh Mukherjee in her speech. “A father-like figure who I miss greatly. He would have been very happy today,” she added.

A moment that particularly stood out to fans was her shoutout to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. While Abhishek and Aishwarya weren’t married then, she welcomed Aishwarya in the family during her speech. Jaya said, “I have been offered this award earlier but I didn’t accept this, because I felt like the time wasn’t right. Today I’m going to be a mother-in-law again to a beautiful, lovely girl. She has great values, has great dignity and a lovely smile. I welcome you to the family, I love you. So I thought it would be the right time to accept this award. I’d like to say this to Almighty, humko mann ki shakti dena, mann vijay kare. Jhooth se durr rahe aur sachh ka mann bhare. Thank you so much.”

The crowd erupted in cheers and Aishwarya became tearful. The moment was appreciated by fans, as they enjoyed watching the heartfelt moment between Aishwarya and Jaya.
