In a throwback clip from the sets of a dance show, which is now going viral on Reddit, Kareena Kapoor opened up about her sister’s struggles. During an emotional conversation with a contestant, she recalled how Karisma first expressed her wish to become an actress. The idea was not easily accepted, as people believed that Kapoor family daughters did not work in films. However, their mother Babita strongly defended her daughter, saying, “Kisne kaha meri beti beton se kam hai” (Who says that my daughter is inferior to son).
Kareena shared that Babita then informed their father Randhir Kapoor about Karisma’s dream. He was initially surprised, as this would be the first time a Kapoor daughter would enter the film industry. Eventually, he agreed but made it clear that if Karisma chose this path, she would have to pursue it with full dedication and passion.
Speaking about the early days, Kareena revealed that not many people know how tough it actually was. She explained that Karisma faced multiple rejections and had to give several screen tests before getting her break. There was also a time when their father was not fully supportive.
However, things changed when Randhir Kapoor saw Karisma on the big screen for the first time. Kareena shared that he was deeply emotional, hugged her and said, “You are not my daughter, you are my son.”
Calling Karisma the “eternal diva of Bollywood”, Kareena credited her sister for paving the way and proving that Kapoor daughters could succeed in films.
