Renowned Tollywood director Pavan Sadineni, aged 38, has been arrested by Hyderabad’s Golconda police in connection with a sexual exploitation case filed by an actress. He is lodged in jail currently.
The case stems from a complaint lodged by the actress on August 7, two days after she was allegedly assaulted physically by the filmmaker. According to the complaint, she had been in a relationship with the Prema Ishq Kadal maker for over a year. She alleged that he neglected her after some time and concealed the fact that he was already married with children. As per her, he assured her of marrying her after duly divorcing his wife.
Golconda Inspector P Saidulu, speaking to Filmfare, addressed the investigation’s progress. “We have done the investigation, during which we have gathered all the evidence like chat texts,” he shared. “We arrested him in a sexual exploitation case on August 13. Pavan had been in a relationship with the actress on the pretext of marrying her.” He confirmed that the filmmaker is in judicial remand.
Allegations of Broken Promises and Assault
Sadineni promised the victim acting roles. Besides, he allegedly told her he was planning to bankroll a project in which she would star as the leading lady. She also alleged he promised her a residential property, Times of India quoted her complaint as saying.
The complainant further alleged that on August 5, the maker of the web film Senapathi, starring senior actor Rajendra Prasad, visited her home and physically assaulted her, resulting in harm. She couldn’t regain consciousness. This amounts to “coercion”.
Two BNS sections invoked
Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 69, which pertains to sexual intercourse by deceitful means, and Section 115(2), which covers voluntarily causing hurt, are the sections under which the filmmaker has been named. His bail hearing is scheduled for August 27.
Pavan Sadineni is the director of Mollywood superstar Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming release, Aakasamlo Oka Tara.
